Do not let your tongue touch anything inside your mouth.
I did this in all my labors and yesterday during a medical procedure where I had to be very very still.
I will take that to the bank, after 8 labors, you should know the tricks that work! - I will pass this on to daughter who also needs to hold still during procedures. xo
Love this! Yep - not easy though :) Interesting Bio .. I'm a Nutritionist,AAHCC Birthing Instructor, turned Medical Aesthetician (Dermatology)- kids in college and blogging for fun! Nice to meet you and happy to follow you back! Enjoy your day
Relaxation.... It's so important for us in our busy, hectic lives!!!! BUT--when having a medical procedure, relaxation is even harder. I remember when I had an MRI on my left leg a few years ago --before my knee surgery, I had to straighten that leg out (which hurt like heck) and leave it there without moving for awhile (seemed like an eternity). I did it---but when I was able to move, huge tears came to my eyes... It was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do...
Hope your procedure was successful --with good results. Hugs, Betsy
That sounds really hard and it sounds like you can't talk when holding your tongue that way. Hey...maybe that's where the expression, "holding your tongue" comes from.
I heard something similar...touch your tongue to the back of your upper front teeth. I guess it is pretty much the same. I do it when I am trying to sleep!
First time for me too! (Sitting here at the computer trying it out! lol!) Don't know if it would have worked during labour (I had a natural delivery) You know what worked? Holding two combs in my hands and squeezing until my palms had marks in them!! ;-)
What an interesting concept. I can see how that might work, but my hubby says he has to concentrate too hard to do it for it to be relaxing. But whatever works, right? I hope your procedure went well.
I'm trying it right now....you're right, it works!! In fact, relaxing all of your muscles in your face is really relaxing too. Saying 'hi' form New Zealand. :-) Raquel
Seriously? I didn't know that...I am sitting here with my mouth open trying it. I look kinda funny. LOL Thank God it's almost 1 am in the morning and no one else is up to watch me. hehe
Interesting!!

I've done this before as a strange little habit I thought. That way you can relax your jaw muscles and it really does help.

ReplyDeleteI can kind of see what you mean, but it's really hard to keep doing it!
ReplyDeleteIt really works. I find its important to relax the jaw too. I use this trick whenever I have to relax and I used it in labor too. :)
ReplyDeleteI heard something similar...touch your tongue to the back of your upper front teeth. I guess it is pretty much the same. I do it when I am trying to sleep!
